We would like to thank Kristy at Lafeber for the very generous donation of parrot food for our residents. All the parrots love the Nutri-Berries.

Gulf Coast Exotic Bird Sanctuary is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit that provides permanent refuge and veterinary care for exotic birds that are rescued by local humane organizations, displaced by natural disasters, handicapped, aggressive, retired breeders, owner passed away or whose previous owners would like them to live out their lives in a sanctuary environment by sponsoring them. For sponsorship information and pricing please click below on Sponsorship/Monetary Donation Form.
All parrots and softbills are placed in aviaries which not only gives them ample room to play outdoors with friends but also makes them more comfortable interacting with staff as they can approach and get all the attention they desire on their terms. We have found cages make them more territorial and aggressive. They also do not provide adequate room for parrots unless allowed to be out constantly.
We are a true sanctuary and do not sell, breed or adopt birds out. For adoptable birds please go to: www.parrotfestival.org.
Gulf Coast Exotic Bird Sanctuary is supported by sponsorships and donations, it does not receive any financial assistance from the government.
Many rescues and sanctuaries have a hard time continuing to operate due to lack of funding. There are so many parrots needing sanctuary but not enough funding to take care of the birds. Being a lifelong care facility we rely on sponsorships and donations to keep going.
It is also important to us that our residents receive a proper diet. We cook for them almost daily. Their diet consists of but not limited to nuts such as pine nuts, almonds, macadamia nuts and pistachios. Quinoa and a variety of beans. Fresh, dried or frozen fruits and vegetables.
We cannot forget to mention our monthly vet bills, mortgage, up keep of the aviaries and utilities.
We just want to make sure everyone realizes what it takes to run a lifelong care facility and why for us to continue operating we need our residents sponsored. They are family and we give them the best care possible.

"For me, the sight of a parrot living alone, living in a cage, deprived of flight, miserably bored, breaks my heart."
Dr. Jane Goodall
The ongoing expense of maintaining these exotic birds and the the purchase of species specific enclosures add up quickly. Contributions are always accepted and greatly appreciated.
